Overworld is a game for Playdate written in Lua that is inspired by AirXonix. It is a 1-bit action-puzzle where your goal is to fill a rectangle with pixels by slicing it's surface into pieces.

This is a work in progress, and in future I'd like to extend on the original concept by introducing an open-world gameplay.

This game is intended to run on the original Playdate device. The itch.io version runs in a browser thanks to a custom shim that mimics the Playdate SDK, and to the wasmoon Lua VM.

How to play

When you move around the board, you leave a trail. The trail solidifies as you reach the captured surface, and everything inside it will be captured too. Do this long enough, and you'll win!

The percentage bar in the top corner shows your progress and the goal you need to hit to progress. Everything past the goal is counted as bonus points, and you'll get bonus items if you collect enough.

You can move slower or faster if you hold A or B, and as long as you hold them, the fence does not become solid. This makes you more vulnerable to enemy attacks but provides more control and flexibility to gain bonus points. Advanced technique, not essential for winning.
